Traveling to the mainland hasn't been something I have done until I went on the 2013 CKTV Media STN Trip. I was a 6th grader along with Micah and Ben and we were the youngest and most unexperienced students in the class. But we didn't care. We got to go to LA and miss a whole week of school. When we got into our plane seats, I had this very anxious feeling. I had no idea what it was like to sit in a seat for 5 hours strait. As ironic as it sounds, it was the longest and boring plane ride of my life. 3 hours into the flight, I just wanted to get out of that plane! Luckily I had food so that made some time go by faster. But other than that it was memorable. I sat next to Micah's sister and we watched the movie Pitch Perfect. So that took up at least 1 hour and a half of the plane ride. We after 5 hours of flying we finally landed and the plane ride was over! It was sure a plane ride to never forget.
The next thing we did was ride in this huge, gigantic bus. The first thing all of us thought when we saw the bus was that it was gonna be a very fun and exciting ride to the hotel. And it was...for the first 1 hour. It was really exciting seeing what it was like in the Mainland. We went through the city part of LA and there are a lot of roads. On Kauai, we usually have maybe 4 lanes on one highway, but there are like 6 or 7 lanes in the mainland. Were going under bridges and seeing all these huge billboards. Its so different from Kauai. I don't want to forget to mention the bathroom. I was in the back row and surprisingly, it didn't bother me as much as I expected it to be. However, some of the other students couldn't handle it and got a little sick on the bus rides. As horrible as it was for some students, it is another thing that made my day even more exciting.
We also got to go to my very first amusement park. Many of you may know Six Flags in Anaheim, California. To be honest, at first, I was a little bit scared to get onto a roller coaster, but once I did, I instantly fell in love. My very first real roller coaster was called "Tatsu". After riding it, I wanted to ride all the other roller coasters in the park. We also wen't onto a water roller coaster which was also really fun. I also got a chance to hang out with one of the Castaic Media Students named Liam. He wasn't my pen pal but we still became friends and we hung out during our time at Six Flags. The best thing happened after we got off the roller coaster. We headed to the booth where you get your picture taken while riding the roller coaster. From that point on, I realized that I barely give any expression while riding a roller coaster. However, I did give this one expression that made me look like I was pooping. So that was really funny.
My first STN trip is something that I will never forget. It brought me a lot of new experiences and taught me a whole bunch of things that help me a lot when making a video. That is where I first saw Les Rose and even attended one of his breakout sessions. For all of you new students going on the trip, make it one of your best experiences ever because every trip is different and has many new things to offer. So even though things go bad, make it something memorable. Just like how I made everyday memorable on my first trip to STN. So until next time, bye!
