So what we do in the morning announcements is share our school info with the rest of the school. We tell you the lunch, who has cafeteria duty, and all kinds of events happening outside of school. While the leadership students are talking to the camera, the media class is behind the camera, switching the scripts, and changing the cameras. So basically all the technical work. The jobs that we have for the announcements is director: tells when to switch cameras, technical director: switches the cameras, titler: fades on the lower thirds and titles, sound: adjusts the sound, camera A/B: switches scripts, floor manager: manages the scripts, Elmo: switches the hanamaikai recipients. Its not hard but its still not easy.
I can tell you that I was a little rusty on the first official week of morning annoucements. My job was director. This made we extra nervous because if the morning announcements went wrong, I would get the blame. But luckily I got a chance to refresh my skills during the first week of school. During that first week of school, the advanced students were the ones running the morning announcements which made me really comfortable knowing that everyone knew what they were doing. This also gave the chance to get used to the new announcements. We had Hanamaikai going in the beginning which is totally opposite from last year, and we need to record the show, and everything is all different than what most of us are used to.
But after my skills are refreshed, its time to teach the new media kids. When I was in 6th grade, it was kinda easy to get used to your job. After maybe the 3rd time you practiced, you got it down. Of course it is normal to make mistakes in the beginning but it doesn't make it better if you didn't practice at all. You can really tell when you did not practice. Technical mistakes are made often and the announcers are having trouble saying names and announcements. But with the right practice, announcements should be as easy as pie.
So thats about it. All it takes is practice and don't forget to make titles when you are the titler for next week. So until next time, bye!
