Hey guys! Just in case you didn't find out, our class just received the new DJI Ronin. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a 3-axis Stabilization Gimbal System. In other words, you put your camera on this piece of equipment so that when you walk, the camera will not be shaking at all resulting in a smooth tracking shoot. This piece of equipment costs up to $3,000! Most of you have seen me and Micah trying to balance out the ronin during class. I can tell you that is it wasn't as easy as I expected but we finally got a pretty decent balance. We took a couple test shots with it and the shots looked very cool. It was really intuitive and easy to use once you get the balancing. There are still a couple of kinks we gotta fix before the Ronin is perfect and ready to be used for our projects. But it should be ready just in time for 3rd quarter! Another great thing about the Ronin is that it came with a LCD monitor. Its basically a screen that is a little bit smaller than the iPad Mini that allows you to see clearly what you are filming. It also gives you a larger image to monitor your footage a lot better. I really can't wait to test out the Ronin on a real project so, until next time, check out some more DJI Ronin Test Shots!
Hey guys! I am so excited to tell you that our class just received the DJI Ronin. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a 3-axis Stabilized Gimbal System. Doesn't that sound awesome! Its basically a thing that you put your camera on so that when you run with it or move the camera around with it, it will not have that shaky movement. So it will make all of your tracking shots very very very very smooth. When you see a movie and the camera follows behind the character as they run and the shot are all smooth, that is what they use the system for. I haven't used it at all yet so I don't have much to say. But go ahead and check out some of these videos shot with the DJI Ronin.
Hey guys! Mr.M just told us in class that we will start to receive our pen pals from Castaic. For those of you who weren't in our class last year, Pen Pals are students from another school on the mainland that we email and get to know each other online. Then when we travel STN, we will finally get to meet them in person at the convention. I had a really great Pen Pal last year. His name was Christopher. He was really nice. And it also really fun because we get to do cool and fun things with our Pen Pals at STN. Like go to amusement parks and arcades!
One thing that I will be sharing with my pen pal would be all about the CKTV Media Class. I will be talking about how I have been in the Media Class since sixth grade which means I have been in the class for my entire middle school years! And since my pen pal is in a media class, I might ask him about his media class and the type of projects they do. i might also ask them what cameras the use, what editing program, and what type of equipment they have. Its always nice to get to know the student, but its also great to know the class.
I will also be talking to my pen pal about this years STN Convention. For those of you who don't know, the convention will be held in San Diego, California. So I can't wait to go. This won't be my first time to California, but it will be my first time to San Diego. So I can't wait to meet them at STN. Last year, I got to see my pen pal in action during his competition. I'm not sure if I remembered correctly, but he was on the commercial category. So I saw him while he was filming. I also got a chance to talk to him during the Sweet 16 Competition at the end of the night just a couple minutes before we turned in our video.
Lastly, I will be talking about our island and my lifestyle. I will be telling him about my dog. Maybe my pen pal will have a dog also. I will also talk about our island and kinda talk about what its like being surrounded by water and being the most wettest place on Earth. I will ask him about the squirrels in California and maybe they might ask about the chickens on Kauai. There are a lot of things that I can learn about.
Well thats about it. it will be really exciting when I get to meet my Pen Pal
